Attention Spring 2014 Graduates!!!!

Graduation is just around the corner!

Did you know that you actually have to apply to graduate

The Graduation Application must be turned in to Phillips 107. If you submit a Spring 2014 graduation application by Friday, December 6, you will receive an email from me by Friday, January 10, letting you know whether or not your schedule for the spring fulfills all your graduation requirements. This will guarantee you have time to rearrange your Spring 2014 schedule, if needed.  You may also want to consider making a face-to-face appointment with me to review your remaining requirements.

What has to happen for me to be able to actually graduate?

To answer this question and more, we invite you to attend the Graduation Workshop on Wednesday, December 4 at 4:30pm in Phillips 411.  We will explain the graduation application/clearance process, in addition to answering any questions you may have about Celebration and Commencement!

Where to get the application:

Download from the GW Registrar’s website (https://registrar.gwu.edu/sites/registrar.gwu.edu/files/downloads/applicationforgraduation.pdf) or come by Phillips 107.

Where to submit the application:

Turn in the completed application to the front desk at Phillips 107 during regular business hours or fax it (202-994-6213).

Who should submit a graduation application for Spring 2014?

Any student who will finish all outstanding requirements for graduation in the Spring 2014 term.

What if I want to graduate in Summer 2014 but want to participate in graduation ceremonies in the Spring?

Still complete the graduation application, but be sure to indicate you are applying for Summer 2014 To walk in Spring 2014 commencement & CCAS Celebration  (i.e., participate in ceremonies, be in the graduation book, wear a cap & gown, etc.), you must have 9 or fewer hours remaining at the end of the Spring 2014 term, and you must finish any outstanding hours/requirements in Summer 2014. Make sure you check that little box on the application that asks if you wish to “walk through” the commencement ceremony preceding your graduation.

If you are a summer graduate and would like to review your graduation requirements, please make an appointment with me. Because you are applying for summer, not spring, you will NOT receive an email from me prior to the beginning of the semester.

All the best as you prepare for this exciting transition!

Fall 2013 Grads! Apply to Graduate TODAY!
