Attention Sophomores (30-44 credits)! Fall 2014 Registration Information!

Please read through the following information carefully as it has important information regarding registration for Fall 2014 courses.

If you are a sophomore with 30-44 earned hours and no declared major, please read the following:

Beginning February 3, if you have 30 or more credit hours earned and no declared major, you will have an advising registration hold.

If you want to register on your appointed registration date for summer and fall 2014, you must either:

  • Submit your completed major declaration form to Phillips 107 before spring break, or
  • Fill out the DegreeMAP planner and then meet and discuss your plan with me

If you have decided on your major, here is the major declaration process:

  1.  Complete a Declaration of Major form with a faculty member in your chosen major: (http://columbian.gwu.edu/undergraduate/advising/declaringmajors)
  2. Bring completed form to Phillips 107 front desk
  3. Tell the front desk staff you are turning in this form and would like your hold lifted

If you have not decided on your major, here is the process to get your hold lifted:

  1. Log in to DegreeMAP to view your progress and what still needs to be done.  Instructions: http://columbian.gwu.edu/undergraduate/advising/degreemap#login
  2. Complete your DegreeMAP planner. Instructions: http://columbian.gwu.edu/undergraduate/advising/degreemap#planner
    • Note: your plan does not have to list specific courses; rather, you can type in things like, “-GPAC Global” (if you want to take a course to fulfill your GPAC Global/Cross-Cultural requirement) or “-Econ elective” (if you want to try out an Econ course). The course schedule will be found here when it’s available:  http://my.gwu.edu/mod/pws/
  3. Make an appointment online with me to review your plan for summer and/or fall 2014: http://columbian.gwu.edu/undergraduate/advising/appointments.  Please do NOT wait until the Schedule of Classes posts to make an appointment with me. You won’t have enough time to get on my calendar before registration…. Book now!
  4. I can access your saved plan in DegreeMAP when you show up! We will review it, talk about your plan, and then I will lift your hold.
  5. If you have not saved a plan in DegreeMAP, I will not lift your hold…

In preparation for Fall 2014 registration, make sure you confirm your registration date here: http://registrar.gwu.edu/fall-spring-schedule#fall2014

**Summer Registration begins on March 3.  Your advising holds must be lifted before you can register for summer courses, so if you’re planning to take a class this summer, please take the steps necessary to have your hold lifted prior to March 3. http://columbian.gwu.edu/summer
